Biography:
Alysse Kathleen McCanna was born and raised in the Midwest. She graduated from Smith College in 2007 with a degree in Art History.
Alysse’s poetry has appeared in Calliope, Eleventh Muse, Poesia, The Comstock Review, Porcupine and Wisconsin: People & Ideas. In 2003, Alysse won 2nd place in the Harlan O. Roberson poetry contest from the Wisconsin Center of Academically Talented Youth. She was a contest finalist for the 2004 Muriel Craft Bailey Memorial Award, and in 2007 Alysse was awarded the Elizabeth Babcock Poetry Prize from Smith College. Most recently, in 2010 Alysse was the winner of the Mark Fischer Poetry Award, and placed third in the Women Who Write Annual Poetry Contest.
