Biography

Beth Paulson leads writing workshops on the Western Slope of Colorado where she has lived since 1999.  Previously she taught English at California State University Los Angeles for more than twenty years. Beth currently leads Poetica, a monthly workshop for poets, and also co-directs the Open Bard Literary Series in Ridgway.  In April 2018 she was named the first Poet Laureate of Ouray County.

Beth’s poems have been published widely in national literary magazines and anthologies and have been four times nominated for Pushcart Prizes. Beth’s newest collection of poems, Immensity, was published in 2016 by Kelsay Books. Other books include The Truth About Thunder (2001), The Company of Trees (2004), Wild Raspberries (2009), and Canyon Notes (2012). A book Beth co-authored with Don Paulson, Images of the Mountain West in Photographs and Poems, was published in 2019.
